Biography
Alexandra of Denmark was Queen of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Empress of India, from 22 January 1901 to 6 May 1910 as the wife of King Edward VII.

Born Princess Alexandra Caroline in Copenhagen. Her family was minor royalty until 1852, when her father was chosen to succeed to the Danish throne.
Married Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, at St George's Chapel, Windsor. She was 18. Queen Victoria had selected her personally, partly for her beauty.
Became Queen consort when Edward VII succeeded Victoria. She was famous for her charity work and popularized fashions that concealed a scar on her neck. She also walked with a limp that society women copied as the "Alexandra limp."
Died at Sandringham House at 80. Her sister, Dagmar, had been Empress of Russia. Her brother became King of Greece. Her nephew was Tsar Nicholas II.
