Biography

Michael John Myers is an American-Canadian actor, comedian, filmmaker, musician, and singer. His accolades include seven MTV Movie & TV Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2002, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2017, he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada for "his extensive and acclaimed body of comedic work as an actor, writer, and producer".

1989 Event

Joined the Saturday Night Live cast. Created Wayne Campbell, Dieter, Linda Richman, and other characters during six seasons. Won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.

1992 Event

Wayne's World was released. Made on a $20 million budget, it grossed $183 million worldwide. "Bohemian Rhapsody" returned to the charts 17 years after its original release because of the headbanging scene. Party on.

1997 Event

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery launched a franchise. Myers played both Austin and Dr. Evil. The trilogy grossed over $670 million. He also voiced Shrek beginning in 2001, creating the second highest-grossing animated franchise.

2002 Life

Awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2017. After a quieter period in the 2010s, he directed his first documentary, created The Pentaverate for Netflix, and appeared in Amsterdam in 2022.
