Biography
Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev is a Russian politician and lawyer who served as the President of Russia from 2008 to 2012 and Prime Minister of Russia from 2012 to 2020. As of 2020, he has served as the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia.

Joined Vladimir Putin's presidential campaign staff. When Putin became president in 2000, Medvedev became his chief of staff, then first deputy prime minister.
Elected President of Russia. Putin, constitutionally barred from a third consecutive term, became Medvedev's prime minister. Critics called it a "tandem" arrangement.
Signed the New START nuclear arms treaty with Barack Obama. Launched a modernization campaign called "Russia Forward!" It aimed to diversify the economy away from oil and gas.
Stepped aside for Putin to return to the presidency. Putin appointed Medvedev as prime minister. He served until 2020, then became deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council.
