Taichung Metro Stabbing: First Attack on Taiwan's Newest Transit System
The first attack on Taiwan's newest metro system happened just two months after the Green line opened in Taichung. A man with a knife moved through the train car systematically, injuring three passengers before turning the blade on himself. The MRT had cost $6.7 billion and was supposed to be a symbol of the city's arrival as a modern transit hub. Security footage showed riders fleeing to adjacent cars while the train kept moving between stations. Sometimes the thing we build to connect people becomes the place where they're most alone.
